The world lost one of the best iconic fashion designers in the industry with the (late) Alexander Mcqueen‘s death. Known as the “hooligan of English fashion“, Mcqueen as revolutionized high fashion standards by mixing grotesque within beauty. Thanks to it’s film director Andrew Haigh (known for his work “45 Years,”), an untitled biopic of the said designer is in the works which is expected to be shot in Spring 2017.
Actor Jack O’Conell (known for his roles in Angelina Jolie’s Unbroken and the recent film Money Monster) is cast as the designer — focusing on Mcqueen’s preparation for his 2009’s “Horn of Plenty“: Autumn/Winter collection, which shook the whole fashion industry to a whole new level and is noted as one of his most greatest and extravagant fashion shows. It will be produced by Damian Jones of ” Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie ” and ” The Lady in the Van”. Before pursuing his own fashion label, Mcqueen worked for notable 5 years as Givenchy‘s chief designer. His distinct style was raved by celebrities and icons like Bjork, Dita Von Teese, Victoria Beckham, Drew Barrymore, Sarah Jessica Parker, Marilyn Manson, Daphne Guinness, Salma Hayek-Pinault (who’s husband Francois Henry – Pinault of “Kering” owns the Alexander Mcqueen fashion house), Gwen Stefani, Shirley Manson, Charlize Theron, Kate Moss, Johnny Depp, Cate Blanchett, David Bowie, and Lady Gaga to name a few. Sara Burton is currently the creative director of Alexander Mcqueen.
Sadly, his life was cut short with apparent suicide as the cause, just at the age of 40. A fashion-enthusiast and an avid fan of Mcqueen myself, I love his designs, intricate work, unconventional signature, and his passion with his label. I promised myself that my first owned designer luxury label must be of Alexander Mcqueen (at least a scarf, clutch, or a handbag). And I am proud to own a few of his pieces and books. I personally think the actor chosen looks identical to Mcqueen. I cannot wait for this film to happen!
