As a little girl growing up, I have surrounded myself loving pop culture and nostalgia. I have been a fan of both actress/singer Debbie Reynolds a.k.a. “Bobbi Adler” of Will & Grace, and her daughter, actress/author Carrie Fisher a.k.a. “Princess Leia” of Star Wars franchise. This December, the whole world was shocked with both of their loss. & both their death devastated me. Both legendary icons passed away: Carrie passed away on Dec. 27th, 2016 due to cardiac arrest (as well all know Carrie has been very vocal of her drug addiction and bipolar disorder), and her mom Debbie, passed away on Dec.29th days after Carrie’s passing due to intracerebral hemorrhage, with hypertension.
Rest in peace to these two women whom broke barriers by proving to us that women can rule by passion and wit all over the world. It was Princess Leia that taught women to rise above and kick ass. It was Debbie who showed the world the value of collecting (yes, she is a collector of all things used in movie sets, costumes, and merch), and the art of preserving costumes and memorabilia of the past…as well as reminding us of our mother’s love. (F.Y.I. she owns one of Dorothy’s red shoes from “The Wizard of Oz“). These two, over the years, have always showed their love for each other as “mother and daughter”.
Condolences to their families, loved ones, colleagues, and their pets. Surely missed but never forgotten.
